Cappadocia is a historical region located in central Turkey, it's located in the Nevşehir Province, about 300 kilometers southeast of the capital, Ankara.

  • Flights: Short, scenic flights from Istanbul take around 1.5 hours, offering stunning aerial views of the region.
  • Buses: Overnight buses are a budget-friendly option, taking around 10-12 hours.

Traveling from Istanbul to Cappadocia usually involves a flight from Istanbul's airports (such as Istanbul Airport or Sabiha Gökçen International Airport) to either Nevşehir or Kayseri, the two nearest airports to Cappadocia. The flight duration is approximately 1.5 hours.

Cappadocia does not have its own dedicated airport; instead, visitors typically fly into either Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport (NAV) or Kayseri Erkilet Airport (ASR) when traveling to the region. These airports serve as the primary gateways to Cappadocia's unique landscapes and attractions.

  • Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport is the closest airport to the heart of Cappadocia, located approximately 30 kilometers from the popular town of Göreme.
  • Kayseri Erkilet Airport is a bit farther from Cappadocia, around 75 kilometers away from Göreme. However, it often provides more flight options.

Both airports offer car rental services, taxis, and shuttle transfers to various towns in Cappadocia. Additionally, shuttle services or private transfers are readily available to transport travelers from these airports to their desired destinations within Cappadocia.
